Your best chance to interact with the natives and get a real taste of village life, first hand! India’s first model eco-tourism village, Kumbalangi has much to offer its visitors. The families here are involved in crab farming, coir weaving, fishing and dealing in copra (dry coconut).

The fresh air and unpolluted island atmosphere lends to the experience where you’ll see villagers going about their daily chores. Engage with them and learn a thing or two about life in the countryside.

Ready for some fresh air?

Please join us in the Hotel lobby at 9am, after your breakfast or 2pm after Lunch. The drive to Kumbalangi is 45 minutes.

Kumbalangi Village

Upon your arrival you'll be welcomed by villagers in true Kerala style. Start a conversation about their lifestyle, culture and traditions.

Vembanad Lake Backwaters

Get ready for a short canoe ride for about 20 minutes around the island. Enjoy the serene views of the Vembanad lake backwaters.

Kumbalangi Village

Get back to the island & learn a thing or two about the art of coir-making, basketry, handicrafts and much more.

See how to catch a crab, fish using bait or get a chance to view the villagers going about their daily chores.

Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty

Back to the car and return to the Grand Hyatt.

1. It’s better to opt for this visit during the first half of the day.
