Standing as a testament to the European legacy in the city, the palace was first built by the Portuguese and handed over to the then erstwhile kings of Cochin. Going back to a few centuries ago, you can find religious paintings and decorative murals that adorn the walls of the palace, palanquins, coins and ceremonial gear. There’s a temple on the premises, dedicated to the Kochi royal family’s deity, Pazhayanur bhagavati.
